When the person who owns the company is the person who’s building your home, you can expect the very best.
WOODLANDS
This stunningly appointed new home demands your attention from the outset. The home was custom-designed to suit the exacting requirements of the owners’ young family, and to make the most of outdoor entertaining opportunities, with room for all the family to enjoy.
The striking custom gutters and fascia give the roof line a cutting-edge appeal. Feature Balinese stone cladding to the front provides a textural statement as you approach the front door. A generous passage leads past the home theatre and study through to an amazing open-plan living/ entertaining area.
A massive galley kitchen is backed up by an equally impressive walk-in pantry, laundry and storage areas. The star of the home is without doubt the stunning two-storey void over the living area. Natural light flows effortlessly through the double void feature windows throughout the huge open-plan living and dining spaces.
Commercial glazed stacker doors continue to blur the lines between indoors and out. The alfresco area is ideal for entertaining on a grand scale, overlooking the pool with steps leading down to a generous lawned area, on which the owners’ two young sons enjoy playing.
Upstairs, four generously sized bedrooms are complemented by two bathrooms, with the expansive feature ensuite an absolute highlight of the home. This fantastic project is a tribute to Maughan Building Company’s design team, which created a stunning home that is not only practical and functional, but so simple in its design.
ATTADALE:
By defining a clear building budget and adhering to the client’s design brief, the fundamentals are created for Maughan Building Company (MBC) to construct a new home. The next requirement is the style of the home, which quite often determines if the budget and wish list correlate.
Since all MBC homes are designed to include a northern aspect, the property always cuts a line between winter and summer, making the home as comfortable as possible all year round. Rob Maughan, owner of MBC, believes that style and practicality shouldn’t override each other, rather they are very closely linked to create a successful design.
Last but not least, Rob feels that an excellent design should follow the natural topography of the site, reducing the need for expensive retaining walls, while minimising the impact to surrounding buildings, and emphasising a natural flow. This Attadale property demonstrates all these aspects, and Rob is pleased with the stunning outcome. A collection of quite subtle features, none of which overpowers the others, create something unique and make the home stand out.
